New Mexico vs. University of Hawaii

New Mexico came out to play UH and Darington plays for them now (Chan's good friend/teamate from last yr. who he played with at CEU)!

So we went to his game! of course they beat UH! It was so fun to watch D play! He did well as always! It was really good to see him- we enjoyed his time here to catch up and chill at his hotel!
I like this picture of the boys!

Chan and I watching the Game!

DEcEmBer

Weird. Seriously. It is Decemeber and in Hawaii it is still an average of 85* during the day. It was always nice taking a Vacation to Hawaii in the winter when I lived in Utah though. I will say this- I sure do miss the seasons.. I miss the trees changing colors, I miss the leaves falling, the chill of winter to get to wear warm cute clothes, the first sight of snowfall, the beautiful first few white snow on trees, then the warm Spring and flowers blooming! I didnt think I would miss that out here- but I do. Why is it that we always want what we cant have? I miss the snow- But yet again, I will not complain about the warm weather, its only for a lil bit longer for us to live here to enjoy paradise year round. I have no problem loving this weather while it lasts! I just had to change our blog background to Winter Wonderland so everytime I log on I am reminded it is December! I forget sometimes.

Thanksgiving

Chandler and I had been so busy with his school, his homework, my work and with him going to Maui and being so busy the week of Thanksgiving. So we just wanted to do our own thing and be alone- a few people invited us over and people in the ward had a party but it was nice to finally be just us two!
We went and had a yummy dinner and just walked around and enjoyed ourselves!

Maui Invitational

So as most of you know we went to Maui for Chaminade's 26Th annual Tournament! First off, Maui is beautiful! We loved being there. It is so different then Oahu. We felt like we were actually on vacation. We stayed at the Hyatt- It was an awesome resort! Chandler was really busy with the team the majority of the time so luckily I had Gayna (my new friend from Australia who dates Dom on the team). Gayna is living here in Hawaii for three months. She and I stayed together in our own room. We had a blast!

The first game Chaminade played Maryland- The fans from Chaminade flew in that day and made the game so fun!
The 2nd game Chaminade played against Vanderbilt- obviously all the games were on ESPN so hopefully some of you were able to see Chan play. During this games half time they did a really cool blurb on Chan. It was a cool highlight for him on National TV!!
And the 3rd game was against Colorado- Another fun and exciting game! Unfortunately Chaminade lost all three But was great for the team to play hard like that pre-season!

Since Chaminade Hosts the tournament the boys were spoiled with banquets to be too, parties such as the X-BOX party, then they were fed by the booster club of Chaminade (Yummy food on the grass of the Hyatt under the tiki torches).

It was such a fun experience for Chandler! We cant wait til next yr November for the Tourny!

First WIN!!!

Chaminade had their FIRST WIN!!!!! They played Hawaii Select again Tuesday night.. H.S. is a team of guys that consists of past Hawaii college basketball players or who have played pro overseas before. Most of the guys are probably about 25yrs old. They are a good team! Chandler played SO GOOD!! It was so fun to watch him play again. It was exciting because he played the WHOLE game except maybe 4 mins! His stats again were the best on the team! We won 77 to 74. Chandler had 25 of those points! Which 5 of those shots were three pointers! He had 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 3 steals, and only 1 turn over in his 36 minutes played! He is having so much fun playing-he is loving the game again this year and enjoying his team and his coaches!

Here is just a picture of us girls watching towards the end of the game- Amy, Courtney, and I

Chandler might not be happy with me about this pic..but I went into the training roon after the game with the boys and Chan sat in the ice bath! Poor guy!

PCC

Chandler's good friends, James and Lynette from his mission, (also who is Chan's head boss with FirstData) came out to visit Hawaii with their kids and stayed out at Ko'Olina. They were SO kind to invite us to hang out with them while they were here. So we did a lil touristy thing. They bought us tickets to do the full Polynesian Culture Center excursion. So we met them up in Laie and went around to the villages and learned about (Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand, etc), we went to the Luau with Great food- then the fire show of "HA! Breath of Life"...

Here the guys were running up the palm trees!
This is at dinner... The PIG!

Chan and I at our table with the Wilhelm's (I am sad I didnt get a picture with them) James bought us a 8x10 pic of "our group picture" that the PCC took for us but I don't have a scanner to post it!
Our yummy smoothie drinks in a pineapple

"Ha! Breath of Life show"
James spoiled us- we had right in front second row seats!

Here is a part in the show where the little boy receives his fathers symbol necklace!
AND the famous fire dance! These guys were crazy and exciting to watch!
video video

After the night at the PCC with the Wilhelms we later met up with them before they went home for a great Steak dinner out at Ko'Olina and swam at night with the kids! It was fun! Thank you James and Lynette for treating us!

Pre-SEASON!!

I was so so so excited to finally watch an official game! It has been so fun to have been able to hangout, meet, and get to know all the players individually on his team before they have had games. That way when I watch the games I know each of them and their personalities! They now call me their "Team Mom!" The game was exciting to watch to see how they all play together!
YAY! Here is Chandler starting! This game was against a team called Hawaii Select! They are all either-past college players or played overseas professionally. Chaminade lost 74 to 77! But a great game!
CHAMINADE goes to Maui in ONE WEEK for the invitational!

My camera is not good for sports-I need a better one...
Chan on the line! Chandler played so good!!! And got great credit and recognition for from his coaches! Chan had 12 rebounds and 11 pts. with the full 35 minutes he played! You could tell in watching Chan play that he was working his tail off and that he was fully invested! His coaches were very happy with his hard work and then got after the other boys for slackin ;)

In this video- Chan is obviously #23 He comes around inside the key and lays up the shot...Then towards the end of the video he is the one that gets pushed upside down into the wall! He's okay tho;)

Receiving of the Surf Board

Since Chaminade University hosts the MAUI INVITATIONAL Tournament. A tradition that the organization does for the tournament to invite each school to Maui to play with Chaminade gives the teams(schools) a NICE individually designed surf board-(each worth over $5,000) So at Senior Night girls Volleyball game, the team received their SURF BOARD! It was really cool!

Here they are presenting it to the basketball team..Dancing it in to music and all!

This is Zach (Z-boe) with the board. He is THE NICEST guy ever! He is going to school to be an elementary teacher! He is one of my favorite on the team-very respectful!

Chandler, Z-boe, and Shane
watching the girls V game

This is a senior that plays volleyball- Courtney. She had a really good game! This is normal in Hawaii- to congratulate someone you give them a lei. She prob had like 50 around her neck from loved ones-senior night after the game!

BYUhawaii VS. UH

Chandler's Basketball tam wanted to go to the UH and BYU basketball game the other night! They wanted to see how each team plays and who they might be guarding when they have to play each team as well in the near future! The game was just down the street from our house at University of Hawaii. Their gym is really nice and BIG! Bus loads of BYU fans were brought down form Laie to Honolulu. All in the red...This is just a handful that were there of course. But they had great fam support! UH won the game! I think that Chaminade has better talent and handling skills! So hopefully they will beat both teams! (Ill let you know)

See their nice gym! It was fun to sit with all the Chaminade team boys and have a night out at a game!

Snorkeling

This fish was about two feet long and FAT. It was bright Neon colors but my underwater camera obviously doesnt do life under the sea justice! We followed this particular fish around everywhere we could!
This was when Meagan was here we took her to Hanauma Bay to snorkel! It was alot of fun!
Here is Meag again looking at me! ;)
Meag ...checkin out the fish!
Here;s our favorite fish again...
THis is Hawaii's state fish- I believe. It is called the Humuhumukununukuapua'a. I dont even want to try to pronounce it!

Chandler likes to not use his snorkel so he can go deeper into the water sometimes
Chan with the famous Neon fish

Gotta love how snorkel gear makes our faces look so pretty!

GO YANKEES!

Chandler was pretty happy the Yankees Won the World Series! I think what was most entertaining for me was to watch Chandler's Face and the reaction of ear to ear smiles he had once they won! It was very sweet! We watched the final game together Wednesday night and it was great to see them beat the Phillies!

GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HaLlOwEeN...

OKAY.... So Chandler and I unfortunately or fortunately didn't dress up for Halloween. However you want to look at it! LOL! Halloween in Hawaii is A BIG DEAL. Sadly for adults only though. Not very many kids get dressed up here or can even go trick or treating because it is all apartments and kinda hard or just not that safe or popular to go to the homes. But in Waikiki there are 100's and 100's of people dressed up. It is way too crowded to drive so we walked from our apt. LONG WALK.
Here we are with some Monster or whatever he is on STILTS..
YOU NAME IT...We SAW IT! Here we have Adam and Eve
mmmm... this is nothing compared to what we saw..

THE CROWD

YES! Chandlers Basketball coach! I love that he has spirit to get out and have a good time! I do have to say though it was really random to run into him! All of his coaches actually!
Here they are! Shane, I forget that dude's name, Coach MO, Coach Mahar, and Chan, and two more not pictured... the were in denial that they were really out walking the streets of Waikiki ;)

This girls' eyes were trippy

Walking with the pace of the crowd

Some weird guy..it just made me laugh

Ah..look at our masks!!!!

Tele-tubbies in the car
Our night was very interesting and full of entertainment, constant laughs, and pure fun. We enjoyed people watching. I could not believe some of the things people came up with. A few others I thought were funny that I didn't get a pic of was, a few local Hawaiians dressed as tourist with WHITE paint on their noses as SUNSCREEN it was funny, a pope with a devil- it was cute, lots of boys in diapers, jellyfish, the game "Twister"-girls, lots of older couples dressed up to walk around too crazy masks, a wooden puppet with strings attached, some risque next to nothing- who knows what they were,Michale Jackson's huge group as Thriller Dancers, Some dressed up as Michael Jackson holding a doll acting like they were about to drop a baby, I cant think what else but crazy stuff. along with all the Waikiki street performers. It was fun too because a few of Chan's teammates are not from the U.S. and they LOVED IT. They dressed up but too, were so amused by the whole experience and to see everyone

He got us in to the Hale Koa Luau for dinner ans his show. It was alot of fun to see him perform. This was the first time Chan has seen him from the mission.

Cute Meagan watching the show
The dancers
